Prothane Universal Polyurethane Sway Bar Bushings
A very important aspect of your suspension set up that you probably don't know about is the sway bar bushings. But if you have found yourself on this page, more than likely you know what they are now. The sway bar bushings hold your sway bar firmly in place, allowing the sway bar to function like it is intended to: keeping maximum tire contact to the ground while cornering. Cracked or rotted sway bar bushings lead to sloppy handling, an annoying clunking and uneven tire wear. Either way you look at it, not a good thing.
With the many different sizes of sway bars out there, Prothane has designed their line of Polyurethane Universal Sway Bar Bushings that are designed to fit any OE or aftermarket bar. These polyurethane bushings will grip the sway bar tightly, effectively giving your sway bar the performance of a larger sway bar. Installing these sway bar bushings will give your ride performance that wasn't possible even with brand new rubber bushings.
If you have a pair of digital calibers, this process is pretty easy. Just measure your bar as close to the existing mount as possible. If you don't have any calipers, don't worry. There is another simple method that involves items you surely have around the house, a crescent wrench and a ruler. Simply tighten your wrench over the bar, and then measure the distance across the teeth of the wrench. Now that you have the diameter of your sway bar, you can confirm that this bushing is the correct size for your vehicle. If the diameter of the vehicle's sway bar is slightly larger than this bushings, that's okay, just do not go any larger than half a millimeter. Any larger and the bushing will not fit over the bar. It is also important not to select this sway bar bushing if it is larger than your sway bar size, as it would not grip the bar tightly. During installation be sure to grease these bushings good to prevent squeaking. The grease will stay in the channels on the inside of the sway bar bushing. If this bushing size does not match your sway bar diameter, go to the universal sway bar bushings page to find the proper size sway bar bushing.

starstarstarstarstar_border" Quality part, good response when delayed in production, larger ear slots would help "
The mounting slots could not take a 1/2" through bolt and needed to be opened up. When you realize the energy needed to twist a 1.5" diameter solid steel torsion spring, you will want to keep the sway bar under control. Also, a two-piece shaft collar would be a good product to sell together to further maintain sway bar alignment. Editors Note: As with any universal part, it may need to be modified to make it fit. We do offer sway bar lateral locks. They bolt to the inside or outside of the sway bar bushing and go around the sway bar to keep it centered. starstarstarstarstar" They worked well! "
I used these on my 1991 Overland motor home. with these being generic I did have to modify the plates these were mounted to since they are slightly larger than the OEM but they did work perfectly. My front sway bar is now very solid.verified_user Verified Buyer - Lewis Smith - . Prothane 191505 - 5 out of 5
